Who is at risk for diabetes? You might be!

Right NOW, 88% of adults living in the US is experiencing insulin resistance, and 1 in 3 are prediabetic. 90% of them have no idea. If nothing changes, by the year 2050, 1 in 3 US citizens (including children) will have overt Type 2 diabetes.

What???? How is this not an emergency????

You might think that you can look at someone and determine if they are at risk for type 2 diabetes, but that’s not the case.

YOU could be the “1” in 3 right now, looking at a future with type 2 diabetes within the next few years. Don’t be reassured by your provider telling you “everything looks fine” if all that is being tested is the same old blood tests you’ve gotten with every physical.

30% of those with prediabetes today are NOT overweight and have NO IDEA they have a metabolic problem!

And you know who is NOT to blame for this?

You. Me. All of us humans who are confronting this reality.

Type 2 diabetes (and obesity if you also have that) are both caused by too much insulin. That’s it. End of story. Correct your insulin, and you solve the problems of both pre-diabetes and obesity!

And here’s the best news: it’s actually pretty simple to do this!

The first step: get tested! (And make sure you are seeing an Accredited Metabolic Health Provider who knows HOW to test for early insulin resistance). Second step: stop following the advice you have been given to decrease calories and increase your exercise. Stop the fat-free diets and the 6 meals a day. Stop the packaged foods and the protein bars. Above all, stop following the outdated US guidelines on what to eat!

It hasn’t worked for you so far, right? Or pretty much anyone else you know?

I was tired of being told I needed to lose weight and get healthier, but getting NO useful information from the medical community on exactly how to do that.

I heard all of these “helpful” recommendations - they may be familiar to you as well!

  • “Eat less and Exercise more”

  • “Eat 1200 calories a day”

  • “Follow the US ‘My Plate’ guidelines” (or worse yet, the “Food Guide Pyramid”!)

  • “Eat a low fat diet”

  • “Stop eating fast food”

  • “Just stop eating desserts”

  • “Here is a prescription”

  • And here’s the worst one: “Your HgA1C blood test is normal.” (That test fails to catch insulin resistance until your blood sugar is already abnormal. You want to catch it BEFORE that happens! Metabolic health providers know what tests to do, how to interpret them, and it costs about $12.00 to do it.)

Are you sick of hearing useless advice? I sure was, and I AM a medical provider, and I was GIVING this advice for many years!

Over the years, I helplessly witnessed both myself and my patients progress to pre-diabetes and then inevitably to diabetes before my eyes. I felt there had to be a better way, and I set out on a mission to find out what it is.

And I found it. Get the right tests to find out if you are metabolically unhealthy and at risk. If you are, change the highly active fat storage hormones; get some data about your own blood sugar response to food using a CGM; teach your body to access your fat stores for fuel; correct your metabolic health; understand and master urges, cravings, habits, emotional eating, over-desire for food, food-related anxiety, overwhelm - all of it.

It worked for me. It works for my patients and clients.
